Editorial policy

Last updated:

Every guide on Fleur and Grey follows a clear set of standards, so you know what sits behind the advice you read. This policy explains how we choose topics, research content and handle corrections when something needs fixing.

Choose topics your questions lead

We write about what readers actually ask. When the same question about home styling, colour choices or room layout comes up repeatedly, it tells us a guide is needed. Topics come from you, not from a fixed calendar or a trend list someone else decided mattered.

Research each guide from credible sources

Every article is built on public reference works, official guidance and recognised organisations in interior design and home improvement. Where a fact can be checked against more than one source, we do that. Claims about materials, safety or building standards are verified before they reach the page.

Sources appear as further reading under each article, so you can go deeper if you want to.

Write in plain language, with no fluff

Jargon is explained the first time it appears. Sentences are short, and every paragraph carries something you can use. We describe what works and why, without promising results we cannot guarantee or overstating what a coat of paint or a rearranged shelf can do.

If a topic is complicated, the guide breaks it into steps. If it is straightforward, we say so and move on.

Keep editorial decisions independent

No placement on this site is paid for. Rankings, if we publish them, are decided by the editorial team based on the criteria we set out. Nothing is sold to you through these guides, and no external party dictates what we write or how we frame it.

The team behind Fleur and Grey decides what gets published, when and in what form.

Update guides and fix mistakes quickly

Guides are reviewed whenever something in the subject changes—a new standard, a shift in common practice, or reader feedback that shows a gap. If you spot an error, write to [email protected] and we will correct it without delay.

Corrections are made to the live page, so the next reader sees the right information. We do not leave outdated content sitting around once we know it is wrong.

Suggest a topic we should cover

If there is a question about home decor this site has not answered yet, send it to [email protected]. We read every message and use them to shape what we write next. Not every suggestion will turn into a guide, but all of them help us understand what you need.
