Fleur and Grey uses a small number of cookies to make your visit smoother and to understand which parts of the site people find most useful. This policy explains what cookies do here, which ones we set, which arrive from elsewhere and how you can turn them off.
What cookies do on this site
A cookie is a tiny text file your browser stores when you visit a page. We use cookies to remember if you've dismissed a banner, which layout you prefer or whether you've visited before. They do not identify you personally and they never store passwords or payment details.
Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until their expiry date or until you delete them. Most of ours are persistent, expiring after 12 months.
Cookies Fleur and Grey sets directly
We set a preference cookie when you choose a display option or dismiss a notice. That cookie stops the same message appearing every time you return. We also set a cookie to note your first visit, which helps us see how many people come back.
These cookies contain no personal information. They record a choice or a timestamp, nothing more.
Analytics cookies
We use an analytics service to count page views and see which articles are read most. The service sets its own cookies to separate one visit from another. The data is aggregated: we see that 400 people read a particular guide, not who those people are.
Analytics cookies do not track you across other sites. They measure activity on this domain only.
Third-party scripts we embed
Some pages include embedded content from other platforms—videos, maps or social-media posts. When you load a page carrying one of these embeds, that third party may set its own cookies. We do not control those cookies and we do not receive the data they collect.
You can block third-party cookies in your browser settings without breaking the main content of any page here. The embed may stop working, but the article around it remains intact.
How to decline cookies
Every browser lets you refuse cookies or delete the ones already stored. The exact steps depend on which browser you use, but the setting is usually under Privacy or Security. Blocking our preference cookies means you will see the same notices on every visit; blocking analytics cookies has no effect on what you can read.
Declining cookies will not lock you out of any part of this site. Every page remains readable and every link remains clickable.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy whenever we add a new feature that might set a cookie. When we make a change, we update the text here and note the revision date at the foot of the page. We do not email notifications about cookie-policy updates.
